On a WNBA-sponsored conference call this afternoon, Los Angeles Sparks Coach Michael Cooper said Candace Parker, who had her first child earlier this month, was taking 150 shots five days before her baby girl was born.

‘Candace is doing extremely well,’ Cooper said. ‘She’s been at a couple of practices. We’re not trying to rush her back. She did a lot of work prior to having the baby, on the elliptical machines ... she’s in pretty good shape even now. And [General Manager] Penny Toler did a great job in filling the holes. We got Tina Thompson, I’m pretty comfortable that we can withstand the gaping hole Candace created. She’ll come back when she’s ready.’
