How to spice up the ESPYs

Been catching a little of the ESPY red carpet action at the Nokia Theater at L.A. Live and a thought just occurred.

What if, instead of getting all decked out in fancy tuxes, frilly dresses and five-inch heels (girls only, we think), how about if the athletes attended in whatever outfit it was they were wearing in their nominated performance?

So Michael Phelps would rock the place in his laser swimsuit, Nastia Liukin would do cartwheels down the runway in her gymnastics leotard, and Kobe would be wearing his Lakers uniform.

Oh, and even better, make the athlete’s date dress in the some costume. That would be the best red carpet ever.
