The Trentonian newspaper, a tabloid published in New Jersey’s capital city, Trenton, has been, in its way, as famous as the New York Post for its sometimes wacky, sometimes totally tasteless headlines.

Occasionally the headlines are in such poor taste that it would be wrong to offer them up again. Really wrong.

But the Trentonian is still hanging in there and its headline on the story of quarterback Michael Vick, known now as much for his having served prison time on charges stemming from his involvement in a brutal dogfighting ring as for his football prowess, had the best headline of any newspaper over the story Friday that Vick had signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.

‘Hide your beagle, Vick is an Eagle,’ the headline read. Bravo. Well played Trentonian. Better than the Philadelphia Daily News which was almost tastefully understated with its simply unclever, ‘Hide Your Dogs.’
