UCLA makes top recruit’s short list

Iowa basketball star Harrison Barnes, ranked among the top recruits in the Class of 2010, has included UCLA among the list of six schools he is considering, his mother told the Associated Press.

Barnes has narrowed his choices to the Bruins, North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, Oklahoma and Iowa State, Shirley Barnes said.

The 6-6, 209-pound forward was scheduled to visit North Carolina in early September and Duke after that. Visits to UCLA, Kansas and Oklahoma had yet to be arranged. He was not planning an official visit to Iowa State, which is near his home.

Shirley Barnes said she did not expect her son to make a decision before the end of the early signing period in November.
