For those worrying that Boise State’s Byron Hout was flying under the radar for having some words to direct at Oregon’s LeGarrette Blount, Broncos Coach Chris Petersen has said Hout will be disciplined and it will be handled internally.

Hout was the player who tapped on Blount’s shoulder after Boise State’s 19-8, season-opening victory Thursday night. Blount, who had just chased down an incomplete pass near the Broncos’ sideline, then clobbered Hout with a right fist to the chin. Blount, a senior who led the Pacific 10 Conference in scoring with 17 touchdowns last year, has been suspended for the season, his football future in doubt.

Then again, Petersen told the Idaho Statesman that Hout probably would not miss a game, so maybe the person who possibly instigated an ugly incident in what has become a great rivalry among Western universities is getting off light.

Hout has also come under criticism by others for his actions. Nobody is saying he deserved to get sucker-punched, but he did run up to an opposing player and made sure to get his attention while obviously yelling out some, well, words of celebration?
