Even grand sportsman Roger Federer says bad words on the tennis court.

During Federer’s five-set loss to Juan Martin del Potro in the U.S.Open finals Monday, CBS microphones picked up Federer’s unmuted bad word and Federer has been fined $1,500.

Two other players, Vera Zvonareva (whose match meltdown included asking for scissors so she could cut her own knee tape off) and Daniel Koellerer were also fined $1,500.

Serena Williams had hogged the fine spotlight with her $10,000 check deduction after she audibly cursed at and threatened a lineswoman who had called her for a crucial double fault during her semifinal upset loss to Kim Clijsters. Plus she lost another $500 for an angry racket smash during that same match.
