Jockey Joe Talamo is in the spotlight

Jockey Joe Talamo is a 19-year-old who knows how to use new media. He has a Facebook page and a Twitter account and he’ll be appearing tonight on the ‘Tonight Show’ with Conan O’Brien teaching him how to ride a horse. Don’t think Talamo will be staying up late to see his appearance. He’s set to ride Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird in a workout at Santa Anita on Tuesday morning.

And Wednesday, Talamo will be riding one of the favorites, California Flag, in the opening-day feature race of the Oak Tree meeting at Santa Anita.
