Chris Ward, an offensive lineman from Santa Ana Mater Dei, said this week he will attend UCLA’s game against Oregon at the Rose Bowl today.

His appearance may be an indication that he is close to committing to the Bruins. He reiterated this week that he has narrowed his choices to two schools, UCLA and Cal, and said, “I’m pretty sure I know which way I may go.”

Ward will be among a couple dozen recruits attending the game. That lists includes uncommitted high-end prospects:

  • Silvarius Ajawara, offensive lineman from Rancho Santa Margarita Tesoro
  • Hayes Pullard, a linebacker from Los Angeles Crenshaw
  • Dietrich Riley, a running back from La Canada St. Francis
  • Kenneth Sills, a receiver from Carlsbad La Costa Canyon
  • Tony Washington, a defensive end from Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos
  • Shaquille Richardson, a cornerback from Los Alamitos
  • Kody Innes, an offensive lineman from Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro.

Also expected to attended the game are Westlake Village Oaks Christian running back Malcolm Jones, who has committed to UCLA; Chula Vista Eastlake defensive back Tony Jefferson, who has committed to UCLA; and San Diego Lincoln wide receiver Davon Dunn, who has committed to Cal.

UCLA also has an eye on future recruiting, as Beverly Hills defensive end Greg Townsend and Crenshaw running back DeAnthony Thomas, both 2011 recruits, are expected to attend. Compton running back Roger Jones and Oaks Christian wide receiver Jordan Payton, a pair of 2012 recruits, should be there as well.
