In its first warm-up game ahead of next year’s soccer World Cup in South Africa, the U.S. will play Denmark on Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the Danish city of Aarhus, the U.S. Soccer Federation announced today.

The game, at 11:30 a.m. Pacific, will be played at NRGi Park, the home stadium for U.S. national team member and former UCLA midfielder Benny Feilhaber, who plays for AGF Aarhus. Television details will be announced later.

Other U.S. national team players in the Danish Superliga include defenders Danny Califf and Michael Parkhurst.

The U.S. has an all-time record of 1-1-3 against the Danes in a series dating from 1993, but this will be the first time the team has played in Denmark.

The Americans qualified for South Africa 2010 on Saturday be defeating Honduras, 3-2, on the road. The Danes qualified the same day be edging Sweden, 1-0, in Copenhagen. Both teams end their qualifying series on Wednesday, with the U.S. playing Costa Rica in Washington and Denmark playing Hungary in Copenhagen.

‘Denmark is a very strong opponent,’ U.S. Coach Bob Bradley said. ‘They proved their quality throughout the qualifying campaign.’

The Nov. 18 date means that the U.S. team will be without players from whichever two teams reach Major League Soccer’s championship match Nov. 22 in Seattle.
