Tony Schumacher, Cory McClenathan and Robert Hight were at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in Pasadena on Wednesday to talk about this weekend’s National Hot Rod Assn. races at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona.

Larry Dixon, a Van Nuys High graduate, was supposed to be part of the driver contingency, but his plane was delayed and he didn’t arrive on time.

Schumacher, who holds a slim one-point lead over Dixon in the top-fuel standings, was asked if he thought it was God’s plan for Dixon’s plane to stay lost until Sunday.

Schumacher said it was his plan, not God’s, to have Dixon stay as far away from Pomona as possible.
