With the Ducks putting centers Saku Koivu (groin) and Ryan Carter (foot) on injured reserve Wednesday, the organization recalled center MacGregor Sharp.

Sharp, who signed with the Ducks on March 31 to a two-year entry-level contract, has 14 points in 15 games with Bakersfield. Koivu and Carter are listed as day-to-day, with the timetable for their return uncertain.

Koivu practiced Wednesday, but Carlyle expressed uncertainty whether Koivu would play Thursday against Tampa Bay because of a strained groin muscle that had sidelined him for the last four games. Carter, with a sore right foot, hasn’t practiced since Nov. 12 when he was hit by a shot from defenseman Ryan Whitney.

Though Koivu and Carter were placed on the injured-reserve list, a team spokesman described them as ‘retroactive’ and said they could still play Thursday.

The Ducks had also recalled left wing Kyle Calder from Bakersfield last week. Calder, who wasn’t re-signed by the Kings after spending two seasons with them, played 9 minutes 33 seconds on Monday against Pittsburgh and finished with a minus-1 rating.
