With the season over and the off-season conditioning program not yet begun, USC Coach Pete Carroll announced that linebacker Uona Kaveinga had been released from his scholarship and would transfer to Brigham Young.

The 6-foot, 245-pound Kaveinga played as a reserve and also on special teams for the last two seasons. He had three tackles in 2008 and two tackles in eight games his past season.

Kaveinga chose USC over BYU in 2008 when he was being recruited out of Lawndale Leuzinger High.
