USC basketball: Trojans top Washington, 67-64

Mike Gerrity hit a clutch jumper with 15.2 seconds left that keyed USC’s 67-64 win against Washington on Thursday.

For USC (16-9 overall, 8-5 in the Pacific 10 Conference) the win is its second league road win in eight tries.

For Washington (17-9, 7-7), the loss was just its second in 18 home games this season.

Dwight Lewis led USC with 22 points.

Down by 16 with nine minutes left, Washington suddenly awakened to close to within 61-60 on Venoy Overton’s driving layup with 1:25 left.

But Gerrity answered with a layup of his own, then clinched the victory with a fall-away 12-footer with 15 seconds left. Gerrity finished with 12 points, all in the second half.

Quincy Pondexter led Washington with 18 points.
