Honduras midfielder Wilson Palacios promises he will be ready for his team’s first World Cup match in 28 years despite having been was carried off the field on a stretcher during the final warm-up match over the weekend.

‘I suppose I pulled an abductor but I feel much better. Thank God it’s nothing serious,’ he told a Honduran newspaper.

Palacios’ recovery will be helped by the fact that Honduras doesn’t begin play in the tournament until June 16, the final day of first-round openers. Honduras is considered an extreme longshot in a strong group that includes Chile, Spain and Switzerland.
