A crude tackle by Hassan Yebda on Jozy Altidore has earned the Algerian a yellow card from Belgian referee Frank De Bleeckere. Altidore seems to be OK.

A yellow comes in my direction too. I misidentified Karim Matmour as taking those early shots. Turns out it was the Algerians’ lone striker, Rafik Djebbour.

Herculez Gomes has just tried a sort of half-bicycle kick, but the shot flew well wide. Landon Donovan has also tried his luck from range, but this time the ball flew high over the crossbar.

Scoreless in Pretoria after about 20 minutes and also scoreless in Port Elizabeth, where England is playing Slovenia in the other Group C game.
