Hockey: Ducks lead Kings 2-0 after first period

The Ducks lead the Kings 2-0 at the first intermission on goals by Brandon McMillan and Saku Koivu.

The Kings outshot the Ducks 15-11, but were 0-for-4 with the man advantage. The Ducks were 1-for-2 on the power play, scoring on Koivu’s shot from the slot with 4:19 left.

Both teams have clinched playoff berths. The Ducks entered the game with 97 points, tied with Chicago for seventh in the Western Conference. The Kings began the night in sixth place with 98 points.

Wingers Kevin Westgarth of the Kings and George Parros of the Ducks dropped their gloves and fought at center ice at the 15:38 mark, drawing five-minute major penalties. The two also fought in Friday’s game at Honda Center.

The last time the Kings trailed by two goals in a game and won was October 25 at Minnesota when they prevailed 3-2 in a shootout.
