Daniel Martinez, a 17-year-old Latino youth, was shot at the intersection of Nordoff Street and Orion Avenue in North Hills and died at 1:23 p.m. Jan. 31.

Martinez was shot in a drive-by on his way home from school in the 15500 block of Nordhoff Street in the San Fernando Valley at 12:45 p.m. Jan. 31. The Einstein continuation student was in the company of classmates and Monroe High School students. Police are looking for suspects in a black, two-door car with faded paint. Call Det. Update: LAPD Mission detectives have cleared, or solved, this case. Two Latino men were arrested. Police said they drove by in a car, exchanged gang insults or challenges with Daniel, then shot him from the car in a rare drive-by shooting.
