Serviceman Murdered

Pasadena police put out a new request for help this week in the death of a young Navy Reservist, Deon Mitchell, killed at 1392 Lake Ave. in Pasadena at 10:03 p.m. Feb. 2. Mitchell was in a parking lot when he was attacked by a hooded assailant who shot him down, then fled in a dark, 4-door compact car. Police called it an utterly random attack. Mitchell’s killer is presumed to be a gang member, but Mitchell, who was from Pasadena, had nothing to do with gangs, and had never even had a run-in with police in his life.
