Most recent homicide map

The map is very slow to load these days because it has so many homicides on it--black clouds of them in some areas, such as Athens, below left.

Give it some time, and on older PCs, scroll down if you get a blank screen.

The map is still being compiled by scientist Michael Quick of USC.

Tan markers indicate homicides from the most recent weekly coroner’s list; black markers indicate prior homicides. All the homicides on the map are from 2007-- about 460 of them so far, minus several dozen cases for which the determination of homicide is still in question. The county is way down so far this year in homicides, not just compared to last year, but compared to any year since about 1998.
