Escary Villalobos, a 21-year-old Latino young man, died after being shot at a party on South Figueroa Street in South Los Angeles on Saturday, Sept. 29. A second man was wounded and remains in critical condition.

According to LAPD Det. Sal LaBarbera, the young men were at a concert at Prince Hall at 9027 S. Figueroa St. Some Latino gangsters were attacking people inside, including Villalobos’ group. Security workers escorted both the attackers and the attacked outside. As Villalobos and his friends were walking to their parked car, a Latino man or youth came up, pulled a gun and fired. Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital, where Villalobos was pronounced dead at 1:55 a.m.
