Hermenegildo Huitron, a 35-year-old Latino man, was shot to death at 911 Milwaukee Ave. in Highland Park about 8 p.m Thursday, Jan.3. The suspect drove up to Huitron and shot him several times in the chest, head and right arm. Officers with the LAPD’s Northeast Division responded to a shots-fired call in the area and discovered Huitron on the street with gunshot wounds. This was the second homicide of the new year and it was gang-related, according to Officer April Harding of the Los Angeles Police Department’s media relations office.
