Unicorporated South Los Angeles: Man, 21, shot after argument

Joshawa Caldwell, a 21-year-old black man, was shot while standing in the 1300 block of 109th Place in unincorporated South L.A., shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, authorities said.

Caldwell was standing on the sidewalk with two other men when a dark car pulled up, according to detectives with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

Three male Latinos in the car got into an argument with Caldwell, and one man shot him once in the upper torso. The men fled east on 109th Place, sheriff’s officials said.

Caldwell was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
