Edward Walker III, a 17-year-old black youth, was shot and killed on an MTA bus on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, on Crenshaw Boulevard south of 60th Street in Hyde Park, according to coroner’s records.
Walker was pronounced dead at the scene after the 9 p.m. shooting.
Walker and another youth got into an argument when the bus on which they were riding stopped at the intersection, Los Angeles police said. As the argument escalated, the shooter pulled out a handgun and fired once at Walker, ran off and was last seen heading east on 60th Street. The shooting is being investigated as a gang-related homicide. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives E. Crosson and M. Kellum with the LAPD’s 77th Division at (213) 485-1383. Callers can remain anonymous.
