Raul Castillo, a 36-year-old Latino, was shot twice in the back on Saturday, May 23, in the 6900 block of Goodland Avenue in Valley Glen, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Officers responded to a call about a possible shooting at about 10:30 p.m.and found Castillo lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Detectives said Castillo, of North Hollywood, was walking west on Bassett Street when he was approached by one or more people. The suspects fired four shots, then drove away in a dark-colored car, according to the LAPD.
The LAPD has not yet determined a motive for the shooting or determined the type of gun used.
