Jamil Lyles, a 17-year-old black youth, was shot several times July 19 in the 13100 block of South Broadway in unincorporated Los Angeles. Lyles was taken to a hospital where he died 10 days later, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s officials.
Craig Harvey, chief coroner investigator, described the homicide as a walk-up shooting.
