A mitt is a baseball glove. A Mitt is a Republican presidential contender, Mitt Romney of Massachusetts.

Where in the world did that name come from? Was he an error-free Little League star?

Turns out Mitt Romney is named for another Mitt Romney, his father’s first cousin, who had nothing to do with baseball. In fact, he played quarterback for the Chicago Bears in the 1920s.
