Opinion: Dick Cheney heading to St. Paul after all

Well, it looks like the Republican National Convention will have a slot for Dick Cheney, according to our cousins at The Swamp. Exactly when has yet to be settled, but Cheney will do his bit to rally the delegates.

As The Swamp points out, Cheney’s approval rating is at a stunning 18% -- subprime mortgage lenders might even rank higher than that. But those 18% are primarily the core conservatives in the party, and if the GOP hopes to hang on to the White House in November, it will need all 18%.

And their money.

But given that 82% of the nation deemed Cheney unpopular, don’t be surprised if he gets one of those invisible speaking slots similar to, say, the men’s trampoline qualifying heats at the Olympics.
