Opinion: Rendell says Obama shouldn’t go on “The View”; compares show to Jerry Springer

While the news media are going berserk over President Obama’s appearance on ‘The View,’ at least one Democratic official is wincing over the thought it.
The first-ever visit to a daytime TV show by a sitting president is getting a big thumbs-down from Ed Rendell, the always outspoken governor of Pennsylvania.
“I think the president should be accessible ... but I think there’s got to be a little bit of dignity to the presidency,” Rendell said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe’ (video below).
How undignified is the appearance? Rendell compared it to the poster child of horrible TV.
“I wouldn’t put him on, on ‘Jerry Springer’ either,” he said.
‘Morning Joe’ co-host Mika Brzezinski cried foul on that charge.
“Oh Ed!” she wailed. “This is different.”
Maybe a ‘little bit,’ Rendell offered, but he didn’t change his mind. “I think the president of the United States has to go on serious shows,” he said.
“And and I’m not sure he has to go on ‘The View’ to get, to be open to questions.”
