OK, now that it’s just us Hotel California aficionados, PSN staff writer Keith Lair writes that not since ’69 has Blair High had two running backs like it currently has. The Vikings improved to 2-0 with a 54-0 win over Hollywood on Thursday night (this is a week after their 60-16 victory over Marshall). In the most recent game, 12 running backs combined for 367 rushing yards, but it was senior Devin Fuller and junior Raheem Broadnex who stood out.

Broadnex rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on seven carries and Fuller rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. He also returned a kickoff 89 yards for a score.

For one night at least, it was a throwback to 1969, when the Vikings arguably had the most dynamic and dominating running back duo in the country in James McAlister and Kermit Johnson.

‘Yes, it could be like ‘69,’ Blair coach Tip Sanders said. ‘We have a lot of speed. We’re hoping we can take advantage of that.’

Of the Vikings’ 20 first downs, 17 came on the ground.

Interesting side note: The city in Mexico where the real Hotel California is located, Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, is also the city in which my mother was born.
