What is it about six? There sure seems to be a run on six-touchdown performances this season. There were no fewer than three such efforts last weekend.

Most impressive was Michael Campana of Capistrano Valley, who scored six touchdowns to lead the Cougars to a 48-38 victory over El Toro. But four of Campana’s scores came in the fourth quarter to lead his team to a come-from-behind victory. A truly fantastic performance.

Matt Contreras of Anaheim rushed for 277 yards and a school-record six touchdowns in a 45-28 victory over Katella. Talk about timely, Contreras’ performance was a milestone event on two counts: It came in the Colonists’ 500th victory as a program.

Brendan Chambers passed for five touchdowns and rushed for another in Saddleback Valley Christian’s 55-34 victory over Capistrano Valley Christian. You’ll remember that CVC scored a 92-6 victory over Liberty Christian a week earlier. Now CVC knows what it’s like to not be able to stop a guy.

One can only imagine what will happen this weekend as offenses begin hitting their strides.
