Corona Centennial is operating with a patchwork offensive line and an inexperienced defensive front, but nothing seems to be slowing the No. 2 Huskies these days.

Centennial (4-0) hosts Clovis West in an intersectional clash Friday night. Both teams were ranked in the top six in the state through the season’s first couple weeks, but the Eagles (2-1-1) have gone south the last two games, and they never left Fresno.

In its most recent game, Clovis West played without several suspended starters and injured running back Matt Jelmini, but Centennial Coach Matt Logan said the Huskies are preparing as if their opponent will be at full strength.

The biggest obstacle will be keeping the Centennial players from thinking ahead to next week’s matchup with top-ranked Mater Dei at Santa Ana Stadium, and surviving this week’s homecoming schedule.

‘We’ll have that added distraction,’ Logan said Tuesday.

Hey, at least they don’t have to deal with hair and makeup.
