Spoke to Mark Tennis of CalHiSports.com about Brea Olinda‘s performance a couple weeks ago. You know, the one in which the Wildcats were penalized five times for roughing the kicker in their 32-13 loss to Diamond Bar.

Coach Robb Perrance reportedly told the Orange County Register, ‘We didn’t play very smart.’

‘That is, undoubtedly, an understatement,’ said Tennis, whose uncle, the late Nelson Tennis, is largely responsible for what is recognized as the official state record book.

I didn’t think there was a ‘record’ for such a thing, but thought I would get the ball rolling.

‘I would say once we get the details of that, we’ll put it in,’ Tennis said. ‘That’s how some sections are developed. ‘Let’s start a category.’ If there is something out there that is higher, people will let you know.’

And then Tennis said what all of us were thinking: ‘That’s weird.’

The key to Tennis’ comments, however, are ‘once we get the details.’ I’m sure anyone from Brea who sends along the details will be whistled for illegal procedure by the Wildcat coaches.
