Oaks Christian WR Chris Owusu (pictured right) will be out two to three weeks because of a strained knee ligament, Oaks Christian Coach Bill Redell said.

Owusu, the Lions’ top receiver, suffered the injury in the second-half of Oaks Christian’s 41-35 loss to Venice on Friday. The team initially feared the injury was severe enough to sideline Owusu for a prolonged period, so pretty much everyone on the defending North West Division-champion squad was pleased with what this weekend’s MRI revealed.

“That’s the news we were actually hoping for,” Redell said.

Through four games, Owusu had caught 20 passes for 346 yards and three TDs. He’s also been valuable on defense with 29 tackles and two interceptions.

Owusu has already committed to Stanford.
