We’re getting a workout tonight. Mater Dei is up, 23-17, at the half.

Both teams combined for three touchdowns in the last five minutes of half. After the Monarchs took a 17-10 lead on a 15-yard touchdown reception by Robbie ‘sure hands’ Boyer, the Huskies answered with quarterback Matt Scott hitting Marsel Posey on a 66-yard stop-in-go to the Mater Dei seven and Scott scoring on a keeper on the next play. Centennial caught a break on the point-after attempt, bungling the snap but getting another chance because the Huskies were called for a dead-ball illegal procedure. They converted the second chance, tying the score at 17-17.

Before I could finish this entry, the Monarchs scored again on a seven-yard run by Robert Mojica with 1:20 left in the half. The point-after attempt was blocked, which could play a big role in this game.

The Monarchs were set to get the ball back in good position once more in the half, but a roughing-the-punter penalty, one that caused the Centennial punter to leave the field limping, allowed the Huskies to hold onto the ball until halftime.
