The wind roared out of the south, strafing the Hamilton football field with gust after gust. ‘This is very unusual,’ Coach Kelvin Moore said. ‘It messes with our plans. We wanted to throw the ball today.’

Running the ball did not seem a bad alternative after Hamilton fullback Ryan Harper slammed over the goal line from two yards out to give the Yankees a 7-0 lead over visiting Dorsey.

Hamilton still led, 7-6, with 14.6 seconds left in the first half. The Yankees had the ball on the Dons’ 28-yard line when quarterback Deante King, with the wind at his back, threw a pass toward the end zone.

The ball floated into the arms of defensive back Rahim Moore at the five-yard line and he returned it for a touchdown as time ran out. A two-point conversion gave Dorsey a 14-7 lead at halftime, and all the air seemed to go out of Hamilton on this very windy day.
