This may not end well for Loyola.

It certainly hasn’t started well for the Cubs.

A .500 team facing another tough challenge in a series of them this season, Loyola got off to a rocky start in its nonleague game against host Hart, ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section Northern Division coaches’ poll and No. 7 in the Southland by The Times.

The unranked Cubs, with previous losses on Sept. 15 to Concord De La Salle, the No. 3 team in the state, according to CalHiSports.com, and last week to Dominguez, The Times’ No. 18 team, fumbled the ball away on their first possession, giving Hart possession on the Loyola 22-yard line. Hart capitalized three plays later to take a 7-0 lead after the conversion kick with 8:20 left in the first quarter.
