Just when I thought my question of the week was answered, it wasn’t.

The public-address announcer here at College of the Canyons called Loyola running back Anthony Barr’s name on the opening kickkoff, but I didn’t think he’d be playing because of a recent shoulder injury.

And sure enough, there was Barr, standing on the sideline in street clothes, serving as the Cubs’ tallest and most enthusiastic cheerleader.

Barr, who injured his right shoulder two weeks ago, is sitting out his second game in a row.

‘It’s feeling better,’ he said. ‘I’ll be back next week.’

The Cubs, so far looking at an 0-2 record without Barr, will be glad to have him back.

And for the record, the player whose name should be being announced on special-teams plays is the Cubs’ OTHER No. 33, Will Partridge.
