A night of passing fancy

One of the things that really stood out Saturday in Concord De La Salle’s 35-7 victory over Mission Viejo was how well DLS threw the ball. It was the best I’ve ever seen Spartan quarterbacks pass.

In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more efficient passing performance as De La Salle’s against what is normally a very good team. Blake Wayne and Mike MacGillavray combined for five-of-seven passing. Not much, I know. But their completions were 54, 18, 40, 85 and four yards, all but the 18-yarder going for a score, and it went for a first down on a third-and-nine play that kept alive a series that ended with a touchdown.

‘Both quarterbacks threw the ball lights out,’ Ladouceur said.

You can say that again.
