James Cameron, a junior at Mission Viejo, won the 26th Bill Thompson Central Park Invitational Saturday after being ill for a week. ‘It was my day,’ he told Jason Eichelberger, who covered the event for the OC Register. It was, too. He had the fastest time from the meet.

The 41st Orange County Championships take place Saturday at Irvine Regional Park. Eichelberger has some compelling storylines to consider as the day unfolds. One of them involves Christine Babcock of Woodbridge, pictured right, and if there’s anybody who can compete with her. I think I know the answer to that.
