Defending champion: Laguna Hills

How it shakes out: Laguna Hills (3-2) has played a couple of South Coast League teams tough and probably has an advantage over Irvine (6-0), which went undefeated against a schedule that wasn’t nearly so challenging. They have the two best quarterbacks in the league, Ryan Werternberger of Laguna Hills and D.J. Crumlich of Irvine.

University (5-0) or Beckman (4-1) might throw a kink in the title hunt, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Corona del Mar (2-4) rose up and took the league’s third playoff spot.
