Milton Knox didn’t spend much time Saturday celebrating the fact he is now the City’s all-time rushing leader, a record he secured in Birmingham’s 54-8 victory over Chatsworth. There’s another game to play, a season to continue.

So he was busy this morning with the rest of his team, watching film, stretching out the leftover soreness from Friday night’s game.

But there was a little afterglow.

‘It’s nice to have,’ said Knox, whose 186 yards against Chatsworth lifted his career rushing total to 5,446, surpassing Jerry Brown’s 5,387 yards for Taft from 1992-94.

‘But we have other things to focus on. After high school, I’ll enjoy it.’

Brown was at the game to congratulate Knox, pictured above during his freshman season on the Patriots’ varsity, on the accomplishment, and Knox was appreciative.

‘I was the ball boy at Taft -- age 4 -- when Jerry was playing,’ Knox said. ‘My brother Dayon Shaw was the best man at his wedding. So it’s like family.

‘He told me if he had to lose the record, he was glad it was to another guy from Pacoima.’
