I predicted last week that the toughest challenge for Vista Murrieta in its bid for a second consecutive Southwestern League title would come from Chaparral.

Vista Murrieta quarterback Kavon Seaton respectfully disagreed. He said the biggest obstacle would be Temescal Canyon, which plays at Vista Murrieta at 7 p.m. Friday.

‘It’s us and them for the best teams in league this year,’ he said. ‘The winner of this is, most likely, going to win the league championship.’

But Temescal Canyon lost to visiting Corona Santiago last month, and Chaparral beat the Sharks at Santiago a week later, I shot back. Plus, the Broncos are scheduled to play at Chaparral next week. Shouldn’t that give the Pumas an additional advantage?

However, that was before I learned of the BBC, the Bronco Bleacher Creatures, which is supposedly one of the loudest student sections in the Inland Empire.

‘I think we’ll get a good crowd because it’s just down the hill,’ Seaton said of next Friday’s matchup against Chaparral. ‘It will be like a home game.’

Seaton is a great quarterback, but he’s also a good salesman. He convinced me to drive back out to Murrieta, pictured, on Friday night.
