Can Reseda’s Dixon run past the big boys?

Reseda’s Giovannie Dixon is the first City running back this season to surpass 1,000 rushing yards. His total of 1,135 yards leads all City rushers listed on MaxPreps.com.

The yardage figure was amassed in games against South Gate, Cleveland, Golden Valley, Canoga Park and Sylmar. Sylmar (4-2, 1-0) is the only one of those teams with a winning record, and Sylmar held Dixon to his lowest yardage total -- 136 yards -- while beating Reseda (5-1, 0-1), 42-7, last week in Valley Mission League play.

Reseda’s remaining schedule begins Friday against Kennedy (2-4, 1-0), followed by games against Panorama, San Fernando and Monroe -- all, with the exception of Panaroma, featuring respectable defenses.

We’re about to find out how good Dixon really is.
