Not much head-scratching when it comes to Sunkist League

Couple things. Excuse me for skipping the Sunkist League in my round of league previews last week. I just plumb ran out of time. Get it, Sunkist-plumb? Anyway, it was next on my list, really.

What I would’ve wrote is the league title is Bloomington‘s to lose, and the Bruins’ best opportunity to swallow their tongues is tonight, when they play Kaiser at 7 at Fontana High.

This game might be as exciting as watching an ‘Asia’ concert, but it won’t be for lack of coaching experience. Don Markham, pictured right, of Bloomington and Dick Bruich of Kaiser have each coached more than 30 years and have nearly 600 combined victories. There’s more on that here.

Calpreps.com has Kaiser rated as the second-best team in the league, but that’s only because somebody had to be rated second. The most clear indication of the gap between Bloomington (3-3, 1-0 in league) and Kaiser (1-5, 1-0) is in the predicated final score of 28-13, Bloomington.

I realize the Calpreps.com computer is smarter than 10 sportswriters put together, but my brain is telling me to write, Bloomington wins, 35-10. Let’s see who wins, the computer or my brain.

I’d drive out there to let my brain see for itself, but it’s tied up with a couple other assignments, really.
