Former Narbonne girls’ basketball coach James Anderson is in familiar territory after the 1986 graduate of St. Anthony was hired last week as the girls’ basketball coach at his alma mater.

‘The gym was exactly the same,’ he said of the Saints’ home court and locker room, which were once used as film sites in the basketball movie ‘Coach Carter,’ starring Samuel L. Jackson. Have a glimpse of the real Coach Carter here.

‘I wasn’t looking to get back into coaching, especially not on the high school level,’ said Anderson, pictured left with some of his 2001-02 Narbonne team. ‘But this was like going home for me. This is my high school. If there was one high school I ever would have coached at again, this was it.’
