Varner wants Canyon-West Ranch game delayed to Saturday

Even though the school may be re-opened on Wednesday, Canyon Coach Chris Varner hopes to push back this week’s scheduled game with West Ranch to Saturday.

Many of the players and parents on the team have been affected by the Buckweed fire that has ravished the foothills surrounding Canyon Country and Stevenson Ranch, and it would only make sense to delay the game a day, if possible, in order to give athletes three days of practice instead of two.

However, nothing has been made official yet, so the game is still scheduled for 7 p.m. at Valencia HS.
