Plan remains the same for Malibu, for now

I caught Malibu Coach Ray Humphrey as he was navigating the still road-blocked streets near the school and he said Friday’s game against Fillmore is still scheduled to be played at Malibu.

Unfortunately, the team only managed to get a walk-through practice in today since smoke from nearby fires was still in the area.

‘It was nice this morning,’ Humphrey said. ‘Then, all of the sudden, this big cloud of mess came through and made things bad. You could really smell the smoke, so we had to keep things slow.’

Humphrey said he’s looking at the situation ‘day-by-day’ -- like all the coaches in fire-affected areas -- and didn’t rule out moving the game to Oak Park HS on Saturday.
