Ganesha could back into the record book

Ganesha could tie a state record that no school should want to be associated with.

The Giants (0-7 overall, 0-2 in the Valle Vista) come into tonight’s game against host Covina (4-3, 1-1) having lost 45 consecutive games on the field. Not since 2003 have the Giants been on the winning side of the scoreboard. They’ve had two victories by forfeit during that stretch, but I doubt any coaches, players or boosters celebrated when those occur. At least I hope they didn’t celebrate.

The record has stood for 25 years. Moorpark went 46 games without a win from 1977 to 1982.

Tings don’t look good for the Giants, who have only scored 14 points this season. They’ve been shutout in five games while allowing an average of 41.7 points.

If they do lose tonight and tie the record, the prospect of them breaking it looks good as next week’s opponent is San Dimas (6-1).
