Just in time to play one of the the most run-oriented teams in the region, Long Beach Millikan this week got a boost to its own ground game.

Junior running back Jonathan Sanders, who was limited to playing defense in a 40-17 loss to Lakewood last week because of a strained knee, is back at full strength and expected to go both ways for the Rams in a 7 p.m. game tonight against Compton.

Sanders is the second-leading rusher and is tied for second in scoring on the team. The Rams (5-2, 2-2), who are looking to snap a two-game losing string after opening the season with five consecutive victories, should give Compton (7-0, 3-0) its first real test of the season.

As Sanders gets back up to speed, the Tarbabes, ranked No. 15 in the Southland by The Times, will rely on top rushers Donald Green and Curry Williams.

Green, a senior, has 107 carries for 1,438 yards and 15 touchdowns and Curry, a junior, has 64 carries for 961 yards and 12 touchdowns. Green averages 13.4 yards a carry and more than 205 yards a game. He also has four receiving touchdowns. Curry averages 15 yards a carry and just over 137 yards a game.
