Well, I wrote a little too soon that Upland’s defense was getting in sync. The Highlanders allowed two touchdowns in the final three minutes of the first half and trail, 21-7.

Richard Brehaut of Los Osos and Josh Nunes of Upland are junior quarterbacks who should be on Eric Sondheimer’s watch list next year. Nunes is a slightly better passer, but Brehaut can do more damage out of the pocket.

Brehaut’s three-yard touchdown run gave the Grizzlies a 14-0 lead, but Upland answered less than a minute later, as Nunes completed passes of 45 and 32 yards to the Los Osos three-yard line and Davion Fleming ran in from there. Fleming is playing for injured starter Tim Hanson.

Arby Fields scored his second touchdown of the first half on a six-yard run with 44 seconds left.

The orange full moon has disappeared except for a faint glow. Let’s hope Upland doesn’t fade as well.
